About the game
The triqueta, the knot of threeness, represents the connection of three things. In the family game of the same name, this is symbolized by wooden animal stones, which must be put together to form trios. The crucial point is that only one triqueta can exist for each of the six animal species. If the balance is disturbed by additional stones of the same animal species, the players receive negative points.
In each of the four rounds, players can decide whether to draw or reveal new animal pieces or take an animal row that is already laid out and drop out of the round. To do this, you have to wait for the right moment to grab the most lucrative row possible before one of the other players snatches it away. Whoever manages to lay down as complete triquetas as possible with the right timing and has no excess animals will win the game.
The Triqueta 2nd Edition also includes the extension Hidden Wolves. This not only introduces a new variant for two players, but also friendly but shy wolves. They hide in the shadows until the end of the game and are worth many points as a triqueta. But the shadow animal pieces also include animals of every other type. If you manage to find the right balance between risk-taking and planning ahead, you can use the wolves to score points.
