About the game
In the summer of 1972, the final match of the World Chess Championship in Reykjavik saw the ultimate showdown, when the American Bobby Fischer challenged the reigning world champion Boris Spassky from the Soviet Union. What the media had already dubbed the most important sporting event of the Cold War actually developed into an unparalleled thriller on both a sporting and political level...
As befits a real title fight, in Match of the Century you play several chess games against each other.
However, each game only lasts a few short, intense turns, which means that every decision is particularly important. By playing cards with unique effects from your asymmetrical decks, you influence your mental stamina and the outcome of each quick game. But only those who sometimes give up their own advantage can use their cards effectively.
This tactical card game for 2 players perfectly captures the spirit of the famous chess competition of 1972. There's nothing like the rewarding feeling of triggering a card effect at exactly the right moment that checkmates the confident opposing side.
