Our next announcement might sound familiar to some of you, as it's a remake of the classic "Cuba"!
However, the new edition comes with some changes, not just a new cover:

Cuba before the Revolution: Under turbulent circumstances, the island's cities strive for independent prosperity and influence. Who buys and sells their raw materials and goods profitably on the domestic market, or who earns the most on the merchant ships? Who sends influential emissaries?
Does it go to parliament to influence central legislation, or does it build distilleries, hotels and banks at the right time for the prosperity of the population?
The player with the most victory points at the end wins. Victory points are earned, for example, by shipping goods from the port, constructing and using buildings, and enforcing certain laws.
The new edition of "Cuba" includes the expansion "El Presidente," which is now fully integrated into the game. Both the game itself and the rules have been extensively revised. Illustrator Stefan Sonnberger has also contributed a new cover! At SPIEL, there will also be a small promotional item with 5 additional buildings.

Games are for Michael Rieneck like a short break from everyday life.
As an author, he particularly loves immersing players in exciting stories or foreign worlds – just like in Cubaneo. He has experienced the unique, characteristic atmosphere of Cuba countless times at the gaming table. But he has never actually been there. Not yet.
Stefan Stadler He has been working as an editor covering games for over 20 years. However, CUBA was conceived even earlier, while he was working in the book trade. He still enjoys reading today; currently, he mainly reads picture books to his daughter and pores over football statistics with his son.
Michael Menzel He was born in 1975 and lives with his family in the Lower Rhine region. Since 2004, he has worked as an illustrator for board games. His illustrations include "Thurn & Taxis" (Game of the Year 2006), "The Pillars of the Earth" (1st place at the German Games Prize 2007), "Stone Age Junior" (Children's Game of the Year 2016), and "The Legends of Andor" (Expert Game of the Year 2013). For the latter, he also won the Graf Ludo Award for the most beautiful family game artwork.
Stefan Sonnberger Stefan has earned his living as a tattoo artist and illustrator for over 30 years. The latter is primarily in the board game sector, as it allows him to best indulge his passion as a self-confessed nerd. Because he constantly seeks new challenges and dislikes boredom, Stefan has developed a broad range of skills over the years.
Stefan has mastered various illustration styles, allowing him to adapt flexibly to different projects. He's enthusiastic about every genre, from children's books to Cthulhu nightmares. Stefan lives in Munich with his wife and daughter, whom he loves very much.
Cubaneo is set in the past, but the situation in present-day Cuba is extremely tense. For this reason, we've decided to partner with a local aid organization and donate a portion of the proceeds. We're currently working behind the scenes to finalize the details and will provide an update as soon as everything is settled.
Cubaneo will be released at SPIEL 26 in October 2026.
